PARALEGAL
Luke Cantwell
Irish born and raised, Luke Cantwell moved to New York City in the Spring of 2024, having graduated from Dublin City University with a Bachelor of Civil Law. Recognising his interests early on, he tailored his degree with modules focused on human rights, as well as moot court. In the third year of his degree, Luke seized the opportunity to undertake an internship with Mason Hayes & Curran, one of Ireland’s largest and most successful full-service law firms. Additionally, he has years of experience working in fast-paced restaurants in both his native Dublin and New York City.
Before joining Rickner PLLC, Luke worked in the legal department of the Free Legal Advice Centres (FLAC), a historic Irish human rights organisation. In his role as policy and legal researcher, Luke critically analyzed government policy and drafted submissions for litigation in the areas of discrimination, social welfare denials and homelessness. In 2023, Luke worked with Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI) at its annual Criminal and Public Law Update Conference. IRLI is an NGO that seeks to use the law as a means of tackling global injustice and empowering all people to live in a society free from inequality, corruption and conflict.
Drawing Luke to a position at Rickner PLLC was his belief that a career in the legal industry carries with it a responsibility to use the law to vindicate the rights of those who have been wronged. He leverages his skills and expertise in his role as paralegal, advancing the firm’s mission to rectify violations of our clients’ civil rights.
